Mr. DANG THANH TAM, born in 1964, is a Marine Engineer from Vietnam Maritime University, Hai Phong, who previously worked at Saigon Shipping Company (1988-1996). In addition, he studied and earned Bachelor degrees in Law and Business Administration, as well as a Diploma in Business Management from Henley Business School, UK
He is a Vietnamese businessman who was ranked as the richest person in Vietnam in 2007 and third in 2008, 2009, and 2010 based on the value of his stock holdings. He serves as the Chairman of the Board and CEO of companies listed on the Vietnamese stock exchanges, including KinhBac City Development Holding Corporation, Tan Tao Investment and Industry Corporation, and Saigon Telecommunication & Technologies Corporation.
Mr. Dang Thanh Tam was also a Member of National Assembly for the term 13th in addition to his business work.
Collective achievements:
Tan Tao Investment and Industry Corporation was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal in 2006, the Third Class Labor Medal in 2001, and many flags of merit and certificates of commendation from the Prime Minister. Recently, KinhBac City Development Holding Corporation has achieved remarkable success and has been duly recognized and obtained rewards. It was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal upon reaching its five-year anniversary. This is an extremely prestigious title for a company of that age. KBC received the Government's excellent leading flag for 07 consecutive years (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010). It has been awarded numerous certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, the Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee, and various central and local authorities. As a public company with the stock code KBC, it has been listed among the Top 10 most reputable stocks in Vietnam, as selected by Standard & Poor’s, which is the leading financial rating organization of the United States. KBC has also had the honor of receiving many prestigious titles and awards, notably being in the Top 10 Golden Star Awards for Vietnam’s leading brands in each industry. KBC is the leading unit in the real estate sector of Vietnam that made it into the TOP 10 of this award. In addition, KBC received the award as one of exemplary enterprises in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, the Gold Cup for "Corporate Culture", and was one of 23 companies across ASEAN receiving the Best ASEAN Enterprise Award 2010.
Individual Achievements:
Mr. Dang Thanh Tam was awarded the First Class Labor Medal, Second Class Labor Medal, and Third Class Labor Medal. He was recognized with the title of National Emulation Fighter and received three Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister. On the occasion of the 76th birthday of the Emperor of Japan and the 20th anniversary of the Emperor's enthronement, Mr. Mitsuo Sakaba, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam presented him with a Certificate of Merit from the Emperor of Japan and a commemorative medal, acknowledging his significant contributions to the development of Japan-Vietnam relations, which has made him the only Vietnamese entrepreneur to receive this prestigious award. He has received numerous Certificates of Merit from various ministries, sectors, provincial and municipal People's Committees, organizations, and associations. He has been recognized for many consecutive years as an Emulation Fighter and was awarded the title of Provincial Emulation Fighter in 2008. Since 2003, he has continuously held the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur and Thanh Giong Cup. He was selected by Vietnam Television for an interview in a 30-minute program on VTV1 as an Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur. He was elected as the Chairman of the Golden Star of Vietnam Club, Co-Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Business Forum, which is a forum approved for establishment by the Prime Minister, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Economic Cooperation Development Association, and appointed by the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as an official member of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC). He was also appointed as a member of the Senior Advisory Council for the Government's post-WTO Action Program and as a strategic partner advisory member in the World Economic Forum (WEF GCC Partner advisory board member).
