Construction officially starts at JA Solar Vietnam plant in Bac Giang
Construction of the JA Solar Vietnam plant project officially started on November 27 at Quang Chau industrial park in Viet Yen district in Bac Giang province.

Earlier, on July 11, Saigon-Bac Giang Industrial Park JSC (SBG), subsidiary of Kinh Bac Corpoation and developer of Quang Chau industrial park and JA Solar Hongkong Investment signed a land rental in-principle contract, according to which JA Solar is going to rent 88 hectares at the industrial park to build a plant to produce solar cells with total investment of $1 billion. The plant will generate revenue of $500 million a year. It will employ 3,000 people.

Founded in May 2005 and publicly listed on the NASDAQ in February 2007, JA Solar, the world’s leading cell producer since 2010, has firmly established itself as a tier 1 module supplier. It has eight production facilities worldwide. Its silicon wafer, cell and module production capacity has reached 2.0GW, 5.0GW and 5.5GW respectively. To date, JA Solar has a cumulative shipment of over 17.5 GW. In 2015 the company earned $2.15 billion in revenue. It now employs 22,000 people. JA Solar Hongkong Investment is a subsidiary of JA Solar.

Quang Chau industrial park is located in Quang Chau commune, Viet Yen district of Bac Giang province. It has direct access to important roads linking Hanoi, Haiphong and Quang Ninh, and Noi Bai international airport, Haiphong port and Cai Lan port in Quang Ninh and is thus convenient for goods transportation.
The park has total area of 600 hectares and consists of an industrial park, an urban area and an entertainment and service area. JA Solar is the 16th project in the park and one of the biggest.
